Marantz PM7000N : A film

Marantz PM7000N film

In my original article I said that the Marantz PM7000N is the type of ‘all you can eat’ Integrated Amplifier that just chips away at notions of low diminishing returns in much more expensive Audiophile HiFi. In this film I go through its operation and features, so you can see what it is all about.

You’ve got Heos, streaming services you can throw a stick at, and a number of ways of operating. I paired this amp to the excellent Neat Iota Alpha speakers, to my PMC twenty5 23s (which was a good tonal match, albeit not getting the most out of the PMC’s – unsurprising at the relative prices) and I also tried Definitive Technology Demand D11’s.

This is a balanced, fair and credible film about this amp in keeping with my views about reviewing as a HiFi enthusiast reviewer. Hope you like it!

A note on using Roon with the PM7000N

I do say in the film that the Roon interface eclipses the Heos control app, but you should also bear in mind that the PM7000N can be used over AirPlay 2 with Roon as a “Roon Tested” device. This means keeping sound quality to 16/44.1 ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec) which Airplay 2 compresses all music too. So if you have a Roon Core server you’d be good to go. Marantz are working on the PM7000N to be made “Roon Ready” for which higher quality streams would be available via Roon.
