HiFi reviews devoid of music is like eating chips without the fish – the best part and eventual end game of ever pressing that right pointing triangle icon. It surprises me why these videos are not more popular, or why more audio YouTubers don’t post music videos – don’t they like music?….. But that is my ego speaking…. Ultimately people have different preferences and tastes, they maybe don’t tune into HiFi reviews to listen to music, people have to expend time and concerted effort to try new music – all in the confines of not having much leisure time.
…So I get it, but it won’t stop me posting these videos. The greatest gift to give someone is a music recommendation that then plays symphony to their own experiences of what they are going through at a particular time in their lives, or of positive experiences they had – maybe a place they visited. This is way more powerful a human reason to be into HiFi and audio than getting off on using HiFi as a means to end of geekism and overt technophile discourse.
I have selected artists that make music which crosses over into chill out electronica in the broadest sense of this definition. This is slow electronic music from dance or electronic music artists who have something to say when the bpm dial is turned down.
These are the videos I have made to date. Note that all music is monetised to the artists which YouTube allows once I select so in YouTube studio, and I am not making these to promote my channel with their lesser popularity.
From Four Tet to Zero 7 and Ott, then Lemon Jelly, I think the next one will have to be covering Underworld, but there are so many with this artist – which ones do I select! Watch this space…..
